Healthy Lifestyle Program
On the 6th of September our TY group assembled in room V for a talk with two speakers that came into our school to talk to us about healthy eating and healthy lifestyle for two days. Our two instructors names were Jeffrey Allen and Agatha Hidalgo. Jeffrey was in the army and Agatha is a food nutritionist.
In the morning, Jeffrey talked to us about his life and what we would be doing for the two days. We would be doing "The Hunter Games". These were team tasks we would have to complete for our own benefit. Some of these activities included "tug-of-war", "shuttle run", "the eliminator", "relay race", and the "grande finale". He then split us into four groups and gave us a coloured arm-band each. After that we went around the back of the school to try out some of the activities. The tasks were hard and challenging!
On the second day, our other instructor Agatha gave us a talk about the right food to eat and how to keep your body healthy. She also told us the amount of sugar that is in such foods. I was really surprised with the amount of sugar that were in these products like cereals and fizzy drinks. After the talk we were brought into the gym and Jeffery then show us some of the equipment he used while he was in the army and some that he still uses. He got us to try out some of these exercises and we found them really tough, which shows us that he is still fit and healthy. We were then brought back into room V and Jeffrey talked to us about the 6 characteristics to staying healthy, which are Exercise, Diet, Sleep, Friends and Family, Work, and Relaxation. Jeffrey and Agatha then thanked us for the two days and let us take pictures of The Healthy Lifestyle Program posters.
Overall, I really enjoyed the two days. I liked the tasks Jeffrey had set out for us because we had to work as a team and had to communicate to one another. I also enjoyed the talked Agatha gave us about the right food to eat, this will help me in the future to eat the right food. I would also recommend The Healthy Lifestyle Program to any TY group across the country!
